10 Guidelines on How to Dress For the Gym

 1- Comfort first

There is no need to look like a model in the gym, your focus should be on wearing comfortable clothes to go along with your training. Clothes shouldn't be tight as it will make it difficult to train comfortably with them, and may restrict blood flowing; you should wears something loose to help your skin breathe and allow sweat evaporation.

2-Pay attention to materials

Avoid rubberized or synthetic clothes as they will restrict perspiration and evaporation of sweat, this may elevate body temperature to a harmful level. Cotton allow perspiration and soaks up sweat well, but stays wet and take time to dry off, a combination of cotton and polyester combines the absorption and wicking qualities of each material, for best choice search for clothes with high percentage of cotton.

3- Shirts and shorts

Shirts should provide comfort and a good appearance while allowing freedom of movement. Shirts should fit loosely, but not so loosely that they appear to be baggy. As for shorts, Gym shorts with waistbands that fit snugly around the waist are the best. Shorts provide the athlete with comfort and a good appearance.

The elastic waistband should help keep the shirt in place. Loose shorts can cause athletes discomfort while shorts that are too long will make many exercises uncomfortable by restricting the freedom of movement. Look for a medium length shorts that offer flexibility, but are not too revealing.

4- Choosing your footwear

This is very essential to a good workout, you will want to make sure the shoes are comfortable, fit you well from the beginning, and have good support and stability.

High quality footwear with cushion inside would be the best choice. You must pay good attention when you pick your shoes as an improper choice may result in foot injuries in many.

5- Wear good socks

Make sure to choose thin cotton pairs that are cut off close to the ankles, they produce less sweat, allow perspiration and look better than long out of style socks.

6- For Females: choose a good sport bra

While you may not think it's important, a sport bra is very essential part of your training gear. No matter what size you are, all breasts need support during workout. A good sport bra will help make sure everything is lifted properly and will prevent shoulder and neck ache. A good bra should fit snugly without restricting breathing, choose a good fabric to help absorbs sweat easily.

7-Leave your treasures out

Avoid wearing jewellery, heavy hand watches, and other accessories on the gyms floor, they will make you uncomfortable while training. You can still add a fun techie gadget to your gym attire. A sports watch, heart rate monitor, or iPod can be a huge motivator to help you with your workout.

8- Tie up your hair

Don't worry about ditching your fashionable image. If your hair is long enough to flop into your eyes and face, then it's long enough to get caught in equipment. Tie it back, pin it up or clip it. This will allow you to be more comfortable working out.

9- Bring a towel and gym bag

Clothes for the gym should always include a small towel. This is proper gym etiquette; some gyms make it mandatory to bring a towel with you. As for the bag, its needed to put everything in it, from towel to water bottle, its shouldn't be too big, or too small, just enough to fit what you need.

10- Always wear clean clothes

You should always make sure that you wear clean workout clothes, a good workout will induce sweat, and therefore washing your stuff on daily basis is a must, you don't want to be that stinky guy in the gym everyone is avoiding. So make sure you always come up at the gym with clean clothes, use some deodorant and feel positive.
